Mycena and Stropharia – tiny mushrooms

A while ago I watched “Fantastic Fungi” together with my daughter. The mushroom kingdom is a fantastic world of fungi living and working together with both plants, trees and insects. The time lapses of growing mushrooms is so fun to watch.

Taking a walk in the forest after seeing this little documentary I decided to go look for the tiny mushrooms. The ones growing deep in the moss, on dead tree logs and among the fallen autumn leaves.

It was not easy to decide what types of mushroom I found but hopefully I have got the right family order for the mushrooms in the photo´s. The two first I think might be a part of the Mycena family. Number three is probably a Stropharia member due to the collar on the stem, the last one I am not sure about but it looks like it can be a part of the Armillaria family.

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam day 11 – 14

This post should have been posted much earlier because now the holliday is over and I am back to work in Norway. Unfortunately I got sick the day before we left Vietnam and that is why I never got to finish mye little series about our Vietnam hollidays.

Ho Chi Minh City is a beautiful and busy city. Three days is to shott to get to know the city, but I quite liked it.

As I am a mother of two teenage girls, these theee days in HCM City was spent in Vincom shopping center, Ben Tan market, Saigon square 1 and The New Playground (a shopping center for youngsters). So no time for serious exploring of the city 😉

As we ealked around in District 1 we passed a few buildings which were coveret with green plants. There are also a lot of buildings in French Colony style, so the architecture in this city is very mixed and I find it very interesting.

It is easy to get around in HCM City, just take a taxi. We stayed at the beautuful Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon.

I am glad we spent our summer holiday i Vietnam this year. Vietnam is an exciting country to visit for those who like to do more than just sunbathing and relax. A combination  of some days in a big city with a more quiet place for sunbathing is perfect in my opinion.

All the pictures in this and the three earlier posts has been shot with my omd  iPhone 7+.

Nha Trang, Vietnam, day 7 – 10

The last days in Nha Trang we went to two different temples. The Luong Son Pagoda and the Po Nagar Temple.

The Luong Son Pagoda was built in 1886. The White Buddha is 19 meters high and rest on a lotus throne on top of Trai Thuy Hill just behind the Pagoda.

The Po Nagar Cham Temple lies just out side Nha Trang by the Cai River. It is constructed in the period between 7th and 12th century and it was restored in the 1960s. You get a great view of Nha Trang from the Temple. There are a lot of tourists at the site and you have to buy a ticket to visit the site.

Nha Trang, Vietnam – day 6

We spent one day in Vinpearl Land. Vin Pearl Land is located on an island just outside Nha Trang. It is a family park with lots of activities in addition to an aquarium and zoo. To get there you have to take a gondola ( cable car) or a ferry. We went by cable car, very nice because you get a good view over the Nha Trang area.

We spent most time in the aquarium and the zoo.

Vinpearl Land is absolutely worth a visit!

Nha Trang, Vietnam – day 4 – 5

The beach in Nha Trang is very long and it is surrounded by palm trees, a very trafficated road and a lot of hotels. Crossing the road is a risky business but if you cross the road were there are traffic lights it is a little bit safer. But the beach is beautiful and the water is so refreshing 😊

When in Nha Trang you have to visit the Dam market. Here you can by approximately anything you want. But be sure to bring some water with you because it is hot and crowdy. We bought some summer clothing there. They have small fitting rooms were you can try the clothes before buying.

As we are travelling with some friends that speak vietnames and knows Nha Trang very well we have had very good help getting around in the city. They also have a lot of friends and family in the area so one evening we had a private dinner in a private home. We had a lovely dinner with traditional vietnamese food and vegetables. It was very tasty.

Nha Trang, Vietnam – Day 1-3

For a couple of years now we have planned for a trip to Vietnam and Nha Trang during our summer hollidays. Now, after a very long flight, we are finally here. We are travelling with another vietnamese family who has been in Nha Trang many times, this is our first trip to Vietnam.

During the first days of the trip we focused on resting and getting our sleep pattern on track again. It is 5 hours time difference between Norway and Vietnam. Beside sleeping a lot we have spent the days by the skimming pool only interupted by eating.

We live at Sunrise Beach Hotel and Spa which is a beatiful hotel located in Nha Trang city center just by the beach. Our room has a lovely view.

The vietnamese fishing boats of Luong Son are so beautiful, colorful and quite different from european modern fishing boats.
