Arctic starflower stretching for the summer sunlight waiting to unfold

This winter felt like an eternity. It was cold, dark and too much snow. The winter was beautiful, yes, but every thing that lasts too long becomes kind of boring.
In Norway spring normally starts in April, but the snow kept coming and the winter seemed endless. Finally in May the temperature rised and the snow started to melt. And then everything happened in a higher speed than I am used to, nature exploded.
Just the other day I took a little hike in the little forest just outside my garden and the blueberry flowers were in full bloom. So spring arrived late this year, but now everything is just fine.

When reading about this common wild flower on Wikipedia I found that this plant has lots of different names:
Why all these different names I don’t know, these names was listed in the English translation of Wikipedia. In Norway the common name for these flowers is “night-and-day” or “flower of the stepmother”. I think the Latin name, Viola tricolor, suits this beautiful flower best.

Spring is here and the first flowers are blooming here in Norway. Today I took a walk by the seaside along the Oslo fjord and found a lot of Anemone hepatica in the forest. The color of the flowers varies from white, all shades of blue to pink. The color variation is both due toe variation in the soil and genetics. Todays shot is of the pink variant of the flower.
