Hiking and photography

My photo challenge friend Ellen owns a cabin at Ble and a little while ago I was invited to stay there for a week end. The cabin is situated in the forest below Blefjell in Buskerud (Norway) so there are a lot of hiking possibilities both in the mountain and in the forest. We normally bring our dogs too but this time the dogs stayed at home, there is a mystical illness among dogs in the Oslo area these days and no one have found out what is the cause for this illness.

We both love photography so we hoped for proper weather for some cool shots. Friday evening was all rainy so we spent the time in doors by the fire, knitting. Saturday was a little bit rainy, but we went for a walk anyway. Saturday afternoon was sunny and warm so we had our dinner out doors. Sunday was OK, I slept too long (not a good thing for photography…..) so after breakfast the sun had disappeared, but we had a nice walk that day too.

Here are some shots from the trip:

I love these trips up to my friends cabin and the shots in todays post represent what I like so much about these trips 🙂

Have a lovely week!

Photo challenge – Many (a lot of)

The theme for the last photo challenge I have each month with my friend Ellen was “many” (like in “a lot of”. It is always fun to have a photo challenge together with one or more friends because different people will solve the challenge differently. I always photograph things I can see, but from time to time I get ideas to make a composition but not very often. My friend Ellen is a more creative photographer and she is very good at combining these to ways of solving the task. So in this post I got permission to show Ellens photos together with my own.

Both shots are beautiful but the one with all the books is my favorite 🙂

Our next challenge is “Architecture”. It will be interesting to see how different we are able to solve that task 🙂 Anyway this way of training our photographic skills is very inspiring.

Butterflies

A few days ago when I came home form work our little garden was crowded with butterflies. All summer it has been crowded with bumble bees and flower bees but now they was accompanied with butterflies. The flower beds contain mostly lavender and oregano. I rushed inside to get my camera and got to work, I was lying flat on the ground hoping the neighbors wouldn’t see me 😉

I was able to shoot three different species, there were four but butterflies don’t pose for the photographer so I had to be satisfied with the three of them, all so beautiful.

Neslesommerfugl
Nymphalis urticae – small tortoiseshell

Argynnis paphia – silver washed fritillary

Little mushrooms

This summer the forest is back to normal compared to last years dry summer where there were almost no flowers and no good looking mushrooms for photography. Now the forest is full of mushrooms both edible and mushrooms which is worth a shot. Last Sunday I went for a forest walk, well, the weather was not the best for photography with heavy rain and dark skies but I was determined to find some nice mushrooms for macro photography. Here are the results (these are not edible):
